WHO SHOULD HAVE A HOME INVENTORY AND WHY?
Homeowners and Renters with Insurance, Business Owners, Churches, Landlords, Vacation Homeowners, Couples, etc. The home inventory will assist you in receiving the proper settlement claim from your insurance company more quickly than undocumented claims.
WHAT DOES A HOME INVENTORY COST?
Our introductory package starts at $249 for 2hrs of service. We will work as quickly and efficiently as possible although additional time may be charged accordingly (typically $50/hr). Exceptions can be made and will be discussed at the appropriate time. The completed package is typically delivered within one week in a professional looking portfolio.
CAN I DO THIS MYSELF?
Absolutely, however, while many homeowners have every intention of doing it, usually they never get around to it until after it is too late. We also use proprietary inventory software allowing us to capture all pertinent information as it pertains to your assets.
WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE ONCE I CONTACT YOUR OFFICE?
If necessary, we will schedule a free walk through and consultation at your location.
You will receive an estimate of the time and cost to perform your inventory along with a confidentiality statement to be signed. At this time we will schedule the inventory date.
On the date of inventory your belongings will be documented and photographed in detail. Payment in full will be due on this date.
Approximately one week after your inventory, we will present you with a portfolio of your completed inventory by USPS or hand delivered.
HOW WILL YOU DOCUMENT MY PERSONAL PROPERTY?
Our software program will generate a report of your personal property by item, location and category. Each item will have corresponding digital photos in addition to a brief description that includes serial numbers, model numbers, manufacturers, etc. where applicable. Future capabilities will include video documentation.
WILL MY HOME INVENTORY BE CONFIDENTIAL AND SECURED?
Information is not collected or stored through a website. Each client is assigned a unique client code to protect their identity. Back-up copies will remain on a CD/DVD by codes for up to 1 year free of charge. After this time we will contact you to either destroy the back-up copies or continue to store them in our secured, fireproof file cabinets for $10/annually. The information collected by IPI will be used only for the purpose of creating your home inventory profile. Privacy is strictly guaranteed.
HOW DO I PREPARE MY HOUSE FOR A HOME INVENTORY?
No special preparation is required. Have receipts, warranties and items in mind that you would like to have detailed and plan to be at home during the scheduled inventory day. Large collections of items may be photographed as a group and individually accounted for using our software.
WHAT ITEMS SHOULD I PLAN ON HAVING DOCUMENTED?
Furnishings, appliances, electronics, jewelry, furs, antiques, instruments, automobiles, sports equipment, collectibles, tools, any appraised or custom made possessions, clothes, etc. During the initial consultation, an IPI representative will ask the necessary questions to help you determine what items should be documented in your home or business.
CAN IPI APPRAISE MY POSSESSIONS?
Inventory Professionals Inc. employees are NOT certified appraisers. We will not offer advice regarding the value of your belongings. Whenever possible, a client should provide original receipts or professional appraisals for valuables that are recorded in the inventory profile.
HOW IS MY PACKAGE DELIVERED AND WHAT SHOULD I DO ONCE I RECEIVE IT?
IPI will deliver the final portfolio via USPS Priority Mail with delivery confirmation or it will be personally delivered by one of our associates. It is highly recommended that your inventory be kept in a safe deposit box or a secure fireproof safe.
HOW DO I ADD NEW ITEMS TO THE INVENTORY?
IPI will update your inventory profile for free within the first six months of your original inventory provided that you are in the same location. Other discounts may apply for terms past 6 months.
WHAT HAPPENS IN THE EVENT OF A HOME DISASTER OR THEFT?
If you have safely maintained your inventory profile you can forward the package to the appropriate agencies for expedited processing of your claim.
